“Eric Thompson has been flatpicking his 1943 D-28 for 50 years now, wringing fat, soulful tones with uncommon power from that rugged, worn dreadnought on bluegrass, old-time, Cajun, Irish, blues, Gypsy swing, and myriad international folk styles.

His recording and performing credits are vast, but one seems to jump out of his resumé — his first solo album (released in 1979 as Bluegrass Guitar and recently reissued as Thompson's Real) features Tony Rice on rhythm guitar, backing up Thompson's fluid, powerful leads on a variety of fiddle tunes and bluegrass and western swing classics.”   — Scott Nygaard, Acoustic Guitar Magazine

This project was digitally remastered from the original 1750 Arch Street master tapes, and expanded with two stunning duet cuts with David Grisman, recorded at Dawg Studios in 1993.
